“Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness all the earth untill the ninth hour. Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, ‘Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit.’ Having said this, he breathed his last” (Luke 23:44-46).
We read in the Old Testament that the Priests were indeed privileged to go into the Holy place, but not into the Holiest of all. A veil separated the two places. There the high priest entered alone once a year. But now the veil has been torn, and we may have “boldness to enter into the Holiest of all by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us through the veil; that is to say, his flesh.”
